This Privacy Policy describes how the BTC Media Companion Chrome extension ("Extension"), developed by The BTC Media Group, handles your information.

1. Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, transmit, store, or share any personally identifiable information. The Extension does not have user accounts, registration, or login functionality.

2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

All data created by the Extension is stored exclusively on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This includes:

• Trade journal entries you create
• Portfolio coin data you add
• Watchlist coins and price alerts
• Cached cryptocurrency prices (fetched from CoinGecko)
• Cached news articles (fetched from thebtcmedia.com)

This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.

3. Third-Party APIs

The Extension makes requests to the following external services:

• CoinGecko API (api.coingecko.com) — to fetch live cryptocurrency prices and search for coins. No personal data is sent. Requests contain only coin IDs.
• The BTC Media API (mediacontrol.thebtcmedia.com) — to load the latest crypto news articles. No personal data is sent.

4. Permissions Used

• storage — to save your journal, portfolio, and watchlist data locally on your device.
• alarms — to refresh prices every 15 minutes and news every 30 minutes in the background.
• Host permissions — limited to api.coingecko.com and mediacontrol.thebtcmedia.com for the purposes described above.

5. No Tracking or Analytics

The Extension does not use any analytics, tracking pixels, cookies, or fingerprinting technologies. We do not monitor how you use the Extension.

6. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
